The Opportunity
A well-established regional main contractor is seeking an ambitious Assistant / Graduate Construction Manager to join its growing delivery team. The business has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial, education, healthcare and specialist construction projects, with the majority of work undertaken within a 50-mile radius of Bristol.
This role is ideal for someone who already has hands-on site experience and has started their academic journey, and is now looking for a contractor that will actively support continued professional and academic development through to degree level and beyond.

The Role
Working closely with experienced Project Managers and Site Managers, you will gain exposure across all stages of the construction lifecycle, from pre-construction through to completion.
Responsibilities will include:
Supporting the day-to-day management of live construction sites
Assisting with programme tracking, subcontractor coordination and quality control
Ensuring health & safety standards are maintained on site
Assisting with documentation, reporting and digital project systems
Gaining experience in commercial awareness, cost control and planning
Developing leadership skills with a clear pathway to Site or Project Management
This is a hands-on role, offering real responsibility alongside structured mentoring and progression.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
Minimum 2 years’ site experience working for a general contractor
Currently studying or commenced HNC / HND / NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent)
Strong ambition to progress academically towards a BSc (Hons) or similar
Valid CSCS card
Basic site qualifications such as:
First Aid
Fire Marshal
Temporary Works (awareness or coordinator level)
COSHH
Asbestos Awareness
Based in or within commuting distance of Bristol
Desirable:
Experience working with a Project Management System (e.g. Procore or similar)
Exposure to commercial, education, healthcare or specialist projects
Strong communication and organisational skills
