About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to take a leading role in maintaining, improving, and securing the facilities at the Viking Academy Trust.

You will ensure that our buildings and grounds are safe, well‑presented, and fully operational to support teaching, learning, and community use.

This is a hands‑on and varied role that requires strong practical skills, excellent organisational ability, and a commitment to Health & Safety compliance. The successful candidate will also manage site staff, liaise with contractors, and support wider Trust estates projects.


Key Responsibilities

* Ensure the maintenance, security, and compliance of all school buildings, grounds, and facilities in line with Health & Safety legislation.
* Act as the school’s Chief Fire Officer, maintaining records and leading emergency procedures.
* Manage and supervise site staff and oversee the work of cleaning and maintenance contractors.
* Support the Estates Manager with statutory checks, compliance documentation, and ongoing site improvement projects.
* Coordinate and undertake practical maintenance tasks, including minor repairs, decorating, and basic plumbing or carpentry.
* Manage security operations, including keyholder duties, alarm response, and site access for lettings and events.
* Liaise with the Estates Manager and senior leaders on budgeting, procurement, and project planning.
* Prepare and maintain facilities for school and community events.
* Ensure the school minibus is maintained, serviced, and legally compliant.


We’re looking for someone with:

* Proven experience as a Site Manager, Caretaker, or Facilities Supervisor, ideally within a school or large organisation.
* Strong practical maintenance and DIY skills, with the ability to safely operate relevant tools and machinery.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, fire safety, and statutory compliance requirements.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and ICT skills.
* Experience supervising staff and managing contractors.
* A flexible, proactive attitude and the ability to work independently.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
