Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Ingres Database Developer to support a public sector organization in maintaining and enhancing its Legacy database systems. This role is fully remote and ideal for a contractor with deep expertise in Ingres DB administration and development, who thrives in structured environments and understands the nuances of public sector operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Administer and maintain Ingres database environments (production and test)
* Perform database tuning, performance optimization, and troubleshooting
* Develop and maintain scripts for automation, backup, and recovery
* Support data migration and upgrade projects
* Collaborate with DevOps teams using tools like Azure DevOps or SSCM
* Provide DBA support for releases and change management
* Document standard operating procedures and maintain system documentation
* Communicate effectively with stakeholders and project teams
* Ensure compliance with public sector security and data governance standards
Required Skills & Experience
* 3 + years of experience with Ingres DB development and administration
* Strong knowledge of backup/recovery strategies and performance tuning
* Experience in Scripting and scheduling jobs
* Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
* Strong communication and documentation abilities
* Prior experience in public sector or regulated environments preferred
* Availability for occasional out-of-hours support if required
