North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established local provider of therapeutic residential care and education for boys aged 6-18. We improve the resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all the young people we work with.
We are currently seeking an experienced Cook to join our friendly local team. If you have excellent attention to detail, high standards, and a desire to do your job to the best of your ability every day, then a School Cook role may be the perfect job for you. We will also consider candidates interested in job sharing.
Main Duties
* Preparing innovative and healthy menus suitable for the needs of our pupils
* Ordering, stock rotation, stock management, and cost control
* Adhering to all food safety standards
* Catering for allergens and dietary requirements
* Serving and greeting pupils
All Applicants Must Have
* Experience in cooking in a commercial or professional kitchen, ideally in a school kitchen or similar environment
* Ability to cook high-quality, healthy meals following a school menu
* Ability to work within a budget and order products as needed
* Ability to cater to dietary requirements
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team
* Willingness to use kitchen equipment
* Awareness of kitchen hygiene rules
* Good health and fitness, including carrying stock up and down to the cellar
* Good time management skills
* Ability to work unsupervised and deliver quality work
* Ability to follow instructions and use initiative
* Job sharing considered
* Full UK Driver's License and own vehicle (not essential if residing in Haltwhistle, as the site is remote)
* The role is term time plus an additional week during school holidays
