About Our Client
The client is a UK-based engineering and technology business that forms part of a wider international group and is experiencing growth and operational change. They operate across multiple UK sites, deliver major projects, and rely on a mix of permanent employees and specialist contractors.
Job Description
* Act as the first point of contact for employee relations, including grievances, disciplinaries, capability, and misconduct
* Provide day-to-day HR advice and guidance to managers
* Support recruitment activity across UK sites
* Take ownership of contractor management, including onboarding, compliance, documentation, and contract extensions
* Apply and maintain knowledge of IR35 and contractor compliance
* Develop and implement processes to track contractor paperwork, expiry dates, and approvals
* Maintain and utilise HR systems (Workday experience desirable)
* Support manager development and promote HR self-service
* Contribute to HR projects aligned to UK and European people strategies
The Successful Applicant
A successful HR Manager should have:
* Strong experience as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor
* Solid employee relations capability, including handling complex cases up to gross misconduct
* Knowledge of contractor management and IR35 compliance
* Experience supporting operational, technical, or project-based teams
* Ability to work autonomously, manage a high workload, and prioritise effectively
* Practical experience with HR systems, ideally Workday
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Collaborative, flexible, and adaptable approach to change
