The Assistant Solicitor will undertake and assist in the provision of professional and timely legal advice and assistance in relation to Employment Law but may be required to assist on other matters across the main functions of the team.The Assistant Solicitor will undertake a programme of development within Legal Services, with a typical duration of two to three years, engaging in a comprehensive Personal Development Programme, and gaining skills and experience across a number of areas of the Housing Executive’s legal work. The Assistant Solicitor will be appointed as a Band 7 Solicitor on satisfactory completion of the Programme.
Responsibilities
* The Assistant Solicitor will primarily undertake and assist in the provision of professional and timely legal advice, assistance and representation in relation to a full range of Employment Law matters.
* To undertake and assist in the quality assurance of settlement of public liability claims and of in-house conveyancing in respect of house sales under the HSS.
* To undertake research into legal issues and provide opinion papers as directed.

Skills and Qualifications
* Possess a degree or equivalent (Level 6) qualification.
* Be a solicitor of the Court of Judicature of Northern Ireland qualified to practice in Northern Ireland.
* Can demonstrate at least 24 months' relevant post-qualification experience in the provision, or assisting in the provision, of legal advice and assistance in relation to the conduct of, or assisting in the conduct of employment law matters,
* advising and representing cases within the Employment Tribunal.
* Possess a current driving licence or have access to a form of transport that enables them to meet the requirements of the post in full.
