At Bloor Homes, our Site Managers are vital to our business. Working daily at the forefront of construction, they liaise with Head Office, tradespeople, contractors, and most importantly, our customers, as we design, build, and hand over their new homes. We are seeking candidates to join our comprehensive training programme to become fully qualified Site Managers. Suitable backgrounds include experienced tradespeople, project managers, or ambitious individuals eager to succeed in a people-focused business.
We are recruiting for a Trainee Site Manager in the Exeter region, based on-site around Exeter. As a Trainee Site Manager, you will shadow experienced roles to learn about all site activities and understand the entire housebuilding process. Your responsibilities will include quality control, health and safety, resource management, and staff recruitment. Meeting customers, addressing their questions, and resolving issues will be key tasks. Ideally, you will have construction industry experience, relevant skills and qualifications, effective communication skills, and good time management. This challenging yet rewarding role offers a college qualification, valuable experience, and opportunities for progression within the company to manage your own site.
Main Duties
1. Shadow site workers to learn about all site activities.
2. Complete secondments in departments such as commercial, design, technical, and sales to gain a comprehensive understanding of the housebuilding process.
3. Ensure all houses/flats are built to high standards and comply with regulations.
4. Investigate and resolve customer complaints promptly during production.
5. Coordinate resources, including manpower and materials.
6. Recruit operatives and subcontractors as needed to meet production goals.
7. Assist in selecting and liaising with subcontractors and suppliers.
8. Check setting out and levels of construction work, recording variances and seeking approvals as necessary.
9. Coordinate materials and labor to meet the production schedule.
10. Monitor work output, sign off completed work, and ensure quality standards.
11. Arrange inspections with local authorities and NHBC, and attend site inspections.
12. Supervise road and sewer construction.
13. Organize timely connection of services to avoid delays.
14. Conduct pre-completion inspections with buyers and document outstanding work.
15. Ensure health, safety, and legislative compliance, accompanying inspectors as required.
16. Participate in meetings with the Contracts Manager and site team.
17. Support the Sales Team with show home preparations and maintenance.
18. Assist the Customer Care Manager in completing post-sale maintenance efficiently.
