Do you have a passion for food? The National Trust is renowned for its food and hospitality. We run 185 cafes all over England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and we'd love you to be a part of it. We’re looking for a Cook to join us. Because we are in a rural area, please think about how you’d be able to get here for work, before applying for the job.
Location: Hardwick Hall, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, S44 5QJ. The Hardwick Estate is open every day, with a shop selling locally sourced gifts, a second-hand bookshop and The Barn restaurant.

What you’ll be doing
* Prepare and present delicious food from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
* Serve food directly to visitors.
* Follow the National Trust Cookbook framework to measure, mix and prepare ingredients.
* Assist with deliveries and help keep the kitchen clean to comply with health and safety legislation and to ensure smooth service.
* Receive induction, training in allergens and food safety, and mentoring as needed; opportunities for further training and development.

Who we’re looking for
* Someone who loves good food with a friendly and positive attitude.
* Confident in following recipes and batch-cooking, and willing to learn.
* Aware of health and safety compliance.
Hours, salary and duration
* Hours: 15 hours a week (3 x 5-hour shifts or 2 x 7.5 hours between 8am and 5pm, including weekends and holidays).
* Salary: £12.75 an hour
* Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 3 May 2026
