We are recruiting for a talented Catering professional to work alongside our catering consultants and to lead our busy kitchen team.
As Cook, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the kitchen including preparation, cooking, ordering, stocktaking and checking deliveries. You will be passionate about providing exceptional and nutritious meals for our main school and nursery children, providing up to 400 freshly prepared meals each day.
You should hold relevant qualifications, such as an NVQ or City and Guilds in Catering and Hospitality at Level 2 or above or have relevant experience, and you should also have a sound knowledge of Health and Safety and possess the Basic Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2.
You should also have effective communication skills, the ability to build effective working relationships and a genuine passion for food quality, innovation, and delivering excellent service.
The working hours for this role are : Mondays to Fridays - 35 hours per week - to - term time only + non-pupil days.
Key duties of the role include:
1. Working alongside our catering consultants - to plan, organize and provide the provision of high-quality school meals in line with government guidelines and legislation on school nutrition standards ensuring that the food, quality, presentation and service are provided to the high expectations of the school.
2. Undertake skilled cooking connected to the full range of menu provision and establish menu cycles of interesting and varied food, incorporating seasonal and when possible local produce, and using primarily fresh ingredients ensuring that meals of optimum nutritional value for growing children are provided continually, but with sufficient variety to maintain popularity.
3. Working alongside our catering consultants to plan varied and nutritious menus in advance and process all ordering requirements.
4. To cater to special dietary requirements and ensure that allergy information is effectively communicated and labelled.
5. To be responsible for the management and recording of all stock to prevent shortages or excess supply and to adhere to the catering budget.
6. Ensure compliance with school catering standards and the school’s food safety policy, health and safety policy, and allergens policy
7. Ensure that the kitchen complies with all Food Standards Agency regulations, ensuring the highest standard is maintained.
