Salary:£51,375 – £56,512 per annum (FTE), pro-rata based on part-time hours (full-time = 37.5 hours/week).
Contract:Initially, 1-year fixed term contract, with apossibility of extension or amended role following the initial term. Applications will also be considered from ‘Outsourced Solutions.’

Base: Hybrid working; The postholder will be expected to work 1-2 part-days per week at the company’s principal place of business at The Beehive, Crawley Sussex.

Job purpose
The Human Resources Manager will play a pivotal role in the running of the Corporate HR function at Health Innovation KSS. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the role holder will be required to work both strategically and operationally.
This is a truly generalist role and, as a small team of two, we require the successful postholder to effectively manage and support the HR Advisor.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated significant HR Manager experience and will be expected to exercise a high degree of initiative, whilst working independently, in a high profile, rapidly changing and busy environment.
The purpose of the position will involve all aspects of HR generalist work including:
1. Provision of support to the Chief Financial Officer in the effective planning and delivery of the key result areas of the Corporate HR function; ensuring delivery of a high-quality and comprehensive operational and administrative service to employees and hosted employees in respect of all aspects of human resource management, including resourcing/recruitment, employee relations and organisational development.
2. Working as part of a team to deliver comprehensive support to the business; supporting knowledgeexchange across the Corporate Services portfolio with other management team members.
3. Taking responsibility for the effective line management and development of the HR Advisor.
4. Continually exploring opportunities for improved ways of working, to enhance the quality and efficiency of the breadth of HR services provided.
5. Demonstrating the ability to deal effectively and confidently with senior stakeholders and have the aptitude to knowledge-share and advise directors and other senior management, where appropriate.
Key result areas
Operational and transactional:
Provide effective and high-quality HR operational and transactional services in support of Health Innovation KSS
* Manage and support our recruitment and selection processes, particularly for senior posts to attract, retain, and promote a diverse workforce.
* Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of our staff.
* Develop and monitor overall HR processes, systems, procedures, and policies in line with changing employment law regulations, best practice, and business requirements.
* Oversee and manage our regular performance development review process.
* Support line managers and provide expert advice and training, as required.
* Assess training needs to apply and monitor L&D opportunities for all staff.
* Report to the Chief Financial Officer and provide decision support through HR metrics.
* Provide expert specialist HR advice to the Executive Management Group (EMG) and flagging risks, appropriately. Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team.
* Ensure legal and information governance compliance throughout all human resource management processes and procedures.
* Line manages the HR Advisor in undertaking their support of operational and transactional HR activities, whilst nurturing and supporting their personal development.
* Manage key relationships with specialist HR providers, including those providing HR Employment Law advice and services (i.e., Ward Hadaway) and those within the NHS (i.e., Deputy HR Director and Senior Payroll Manager at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust).
* Provide accurate, timely and relevant workforce information, undertaking analysis and interpreting trends, as required.
* Oversee the timely management, reporting and monitoring of sickness absence and other absences.
* Produce reports on various workforce related topics for submission to the Executive Management Group (EMG), as appropriate.
* Monitor and review of performance appraisals and supporting line managers, as required.
* Advise senior management on legal developments and risk factors associated with any planned changes.
* Ensure that the organisation operates fair employee relations processes that run smoothly and that support and empower line managers to resolve concerns at the earliest opportunity and provide advice where issues are of particular concern.
* Provide advice, guidance, and support on an array of HR activities, including policies and procedures, terms and conditions, absence management, managing performance and capability, disciplinary and grievance issues, learning and development, restructuring of services, recruitment, retention, TUPE, and employment law.
* Ensure that processes and protocols are in place for responding to, and handling of appeals and employment tribunal claims and represent the company, if cases are escalated to court hearings.
* Ensure that staff records are kept up to date, are accurate and are in compliance with Information Governance requirements.
* Liaison with the Financial Controller on any payroll-related matters and changes, including the application of salary sacrifice schemes and the workplace pension scheme.
* Management of the application of the pay and remuneration process to ensure there is a consistent approach across the organisation and appropriate budget holders / EMG members are guided appropriately on pay-related considerations.
* Perform regular benchmarking of roles and review of market data to measure competitiveness of compensation and benefits package.
* Undertake the planning and delivery of annual staff engagement surveys, presenting findings to the Board, EMG, and staff, as appropriate.
* Keep up to date with changes in employment law and other developments affecting the operational HR service.
* Deliver against agreed business objectives, achieving quality outcomes.
* Undertake ad-hoc projects and developing processes, as required.
* Approve corporate invoices, as appropriate and in line with the company’s Financial Controls.
* The post holder is an authorised signatory for travel arrangements and meeting expenses. Bank approvals and payments, as required.
* Be an active member of the Senior Leadership Team.
* Line manage the HR Advisor to include undertaking regular 1:1s and performance reviews.
Management and team working
* Build, develop and maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Participate and engage with relevant internal (e.g., OD Working Group) and external working groups / projects to provide support and to maintain data collection systems for its effective use by the company.
* Work in partnership with others, in particular the Business Manager and Financial Controller and as part of cross-company teams, to deliver successful outcomes.
* Ensure that the HR team is properly always staffed.
* Provide cover for other Corporate Services colleagues, as appropriate, during periods of illness or holiday.

Qualifications/education
Essential:
* CIPD Level 5 (or above) in People Management, or equivalent HR-related qualification but extensive HR experience will be considered.
* Evidence of continuous professional development; record of CPD shows strong self-development ethos and learning.
Desirable:
* Degree qualified in HR, Business or Management discipline
Knowledge & experience
Essential:
* Minimum 5 years of experience at HR Manager level.
* Experience in mediation and if possible, a certificate in coaching
* Maintains up to date in-depth knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
* Experience of drafting complex correspondence
* Previous experience of line management.
* Experience of managing medium sized projects.
* Thorough understanding of the importance of confidentiality, data protection and information governance.
* Up to date experience of using IT at an advanced level in an office environment and the ability to keep up with changes in office management and IT.
