An experienced HR Officer is sought for a large Multi-Academy Trust comprising 27 academies across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. This is a roving role covering Sheffield, Lincoln, Newark, and Worksop with regular travel to Nottingham, so a car driver is essential. There is potential flexibility for occasional homeworking.
The HR Officer will support a portfolio of schools in all areas of employee relations and support of compliance, audit, training, recruitment, and induction processes.
Responsibilities:
1. Respond to day-to-day queries from academies and managers across the Trust on HR policy, procedure, and best practice, escalating contentious issues to the HRBP for any cases which may be considered high risk.
2. Manage own casework on all employee relations issues from disciplinary, grievances, maternity, consultations, and any other HR cases as required by partner schools.
3. Ensure all advice is fully compliant with current employment law, including the Equality Act, Data Protection, and Safer Recruitment legislation.
4. Manage sickness absence casework across partner schools.
5. Support the wider HR team on projects including training and induction programmes.
6. Maintain the Trust Single Central Record and support with the Trust onboarding process for staff including DBS applications.
7. Produce management reports as required and directed by the wider HR team.
The successful HR Officer will be educated to GCSE level, or equivalent, in English and Maths, with a relevant Business/HR Administration qualification (e.g. CIPD level 5). Experience of a similar role within an educational setting is desirable, with working knowledge of HR systems (e.g. HRIS, payroll). You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience of managing data systems for reporting to management and other stakeholders.
We are seeking a highly organised, flexible, and approachable individual with excellent interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to multitask and prioritise. Due to the nature of the role, a driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential.
In return, the Trust offers a competitive salary, pension scheme, flu vaccinations, free eye tests, occupational health and physiotherapy services, and travel expenses.
Closing date for applications: 14th April 2025
Interview: 23rd April 2025 in person in Sheffield
