Great Lakes Insurance UK Limited (“GLLS”), regulated by Prudential Regulation Authority and the Financial Conduct Authority, is a fully owned subsidiary of Great Lakes Insurance SE and acts as the preferred facilitator of agency insurance business in the UK in the post-Brexit world.
About the role: Managing, analysing and taking decisions based on data is becoming more and more a key success factor for Great Lakes’ business model. The Senior Business Data Architect will play a key role in implementing Great Lakes’ data vision for the whole of the Great Lakes organisation. You will report into the Head of Data & Digital Transfer. You will work on a hybrid working model.
Responsibilities:
Working closely with the Business and IT Colleagues you will:
Further develop and execute GL’s data vision/ strategy in alignment with GL Business/ IT strategy and Munich Re’s/ GSI’s data strategy.
Develop comprehensive GL data target landscape (integrating with GL Data Governance concepts) from a business standpoint.
Explore full potential of GL data for increased business benefit.
Represent GL in data related working groups on the GSI level.
Support GL Lakehouse PO and project team in creating strategically fitting data products.
Support GL Data Office in the implementation of DQ measures concepts and rollout of a data catalogue tool.
Develop data science capability for GL in close cooperation with the UW Oversight and other relevant business teams.
Liaise with GL’s key stakeholders from MR business units and global functions as well as from selected third parties e.g.: MGAs, Broker Platforms, London Market.
Act as data steward in specific data domains.

Experience:
Familiarity with primary insurance business processes especially in the field of delegated authority and/ or single risk.
Business analysis/ requirements gathering.
Think strategically while still being implementation focused.
Familiarity with data flows/ basic functionalities of Munich Re global system landscape (EDWH, FAB, FS-RI, …)
Familiarity with the main aspects of Munich Re technology stack (MS Azure, ADF, Informatica, Databricks, SQL, …).
Strong communication skills (intercultural and interdisciplinary).
Independence, self-motivating and self-drivenness.
Deal with complexity, multiple tasks and competing priorities.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
Experience in data science.
Experience in or potential for (functional) leadership.
Good understanding of Data Governance concepts.
Familiarity with Data Catalogue tools and usage.
Experience with managing projects.

Regulatory & Conduct Requirements:
In addition to the responsibilities set out above, the Senior Business Data Architect role/function will also become responsible for:
Ensure compliance with Munich Re’s Code of Conduct and the FCA Conduct Rules
You will be rewarded with a great compensation package, on target bonus, 25 days annual leave with the option to purchase more along with private medical insurance and employers' contributory pension of 10%.
