Location: Children's Centre/Home in Detling, Maidstone Hours: 20 hours per week, typically 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Monday to Friday) Note: Hiring manager is willing to compromise hours Job Purpose: To prepare and serve healthy, nutritious, and child-friendly meals for children and staff in a residential or daycare setting, following food safety standards and any dietary requirements. Key Responsibilities: Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks for children and staff, accommodating any allergies, cultural, or medical dietary needs. Ensure meals are nutritious, balanced, and appropriate for different age groups. Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment in line with food safety and health regulations Monitor and manage food stock, placing orders as needed and minimising waste. Safely store food items and check expiry dates regularly. Complete daily records of meals served and cleaning schedules. Work with childcare staff to support children's eating routines and encourage healthy eating. Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean, maintained, and used safely. Requirements: Basic food hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain one). Experience cooking in a similar setting (e.g., school, care home, nursery) preferred. Understanding of dietary needs and food allergies. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Friendly and flexible approach, especially around working hours.
