Job Advert Role Description
Loughshore is a service offering residential support to 15 individuals ranging from 18 to 65 years of age. We are located in Jordanstown, on the County Antrim coastline, in a pleasant area surrounded by private grounds, which our residents help to maintain.
Here we support individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and distressed behaviours, thanks to the excellent work of our dedicated team of more than 80 colleagues who strive to make sure every person in our care lives a healthier and happy life.
About the role
As a Cook working at Loughshore you will have a range of responsibilities, including:
1. Creating, presenting and delivering nutritious meals to a high standard of quality
2. Developing varied and interesting menus that take into account healthy eating guidelines and any dietary and nutritional requirements
3. Assisting our residents in developing their life skills by involving them in the preparation of meals
4. Supporting the provision of catering operations in line with the company’s policies and procedures
5. Working with colleagues in the Care team to tailor meals based on our residents’ preferences and adjusting these based on any changes
6. Carrying out grocery shopping and turning this task into a social activity when involving residents who wish to help
7. Developing relationships with family members to cater appropriately for the needs of our residents
8. Involving residents with seasonal menu changes with the support of our Activity Coordinators
This is a part time, weekend position. There is some some flexibility is available start and finish hours and this can be discussed at interview stage.
About you
Food Handling: Maintaining proper food handling practices to ensure food safety.
Sanitation: Maintaining a clean and sanitized kitchen, adhering to food handling and storage procedures.
Collaborating with Staff: Working efficiently with other employees and staff
Kitchen Organization: Keeping the kitchen tidy and organized, including maintaining a clean workspace
Food Preparation: Cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing ingredients according to recipes.
