Role Overview
We are seeking a Technical Sales Executive in Gloucestershire for an engineering client. The role blends commercial and technical expertise. It involves identifying new customers, strengthening relationships within existing customers, reporting, analytics, and supporting pre‑ and post‑sales activities including marketing, pricing, design, commercial and project financial review.
The position starts at the junior end of the sales team and does not offer individual monthly or quarterly commissions. It offers a competitive salary plus a team bonus.
Responsibilities
* Develop enhanced and supportive relationships with key strategic partners and clients in a systematic and measurable way.
* Identify new sales opportunities, respond to leads and enquiries.
* Maintain effective communication and contact through regular calls, meetings and engagements with new sales, key partners and clients as required, delivering long standing loyalty and commitment.
* Analyse competitors and market positions of key players and customers and deliver analyses that contribute to the growth of the business.
* Create and maintain a market analysis and planning database for operations, markets and customers worldwide.
* Arrange and coordinate meetings and engagements with key partners, clients and global players wherever required.
* Attend trade shows and market events globally in line with business strategic objectives.
* Deliver on time delivery and completion of projects and objectives.
* Complete sales administrative tasks.
* Maximise sales with existing accounts through regular calls and meetings as appropriate.
* Propose sales opportunities to the CEO and Directors which merit further effort and resource.
* Ensure all client documentation (proposals/tenders/contracts) is accurate, detailed and complete and that client specifications are mirrored in arrangements with sub‑contractors.
* Coordinate colleagues across the business in compiling detailed reports and tenders to clients, including challenging designs, programmes, and cost.
* Maximise use of previous designs, sketches and standard designs.
* Maintain and propose updates to the web‑site, marketing materials (brochures/presentations/case studies).
* Prepare (and collate as appropriate) weekly updates for the Operations Team covering latest sales and operational status of opportunities and live projects.
Qualifications
* Experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Product Development.
* Educated to degree standard, preferably an engineering degree.
* Experience in a commercial department and a keen interest in sales.
* Excellent communication skills and a robust, resilient demeanour.
* Ability to engage in intellectual conversations with clients and command an audience when presenting.
* Proactive mindset and high attention to detail; able to handle tender work and large multimillion‑pound projects.
* Office‑based role with occasional client premises visits; a car and driving licence are required.
