Are you an HR professional who thrives on finding the right talent and building a culture where everyone can belong?
YMCA North Tyneside is looking for a high energy HR Officer to lead our recruitment, onboarding, and internal culture. This isn't just a back office role, you will be the driving force of behind our front door experience, ensuring we attract the best talent to serve our communities across all our areas.
Reporting to the People & Culture Lead, you will bridge the gap between policy and practice, making HR accessible, practical, and values-led for our diverse teams.
What success looks like
* You'll lead on all vacancies, drafting engaging adverts and proactively headhunting specialist roles to ensure we hire at pace without compromising on quality or safety
* You will own the induction experience, ensuring every new starter - whether they work in our nursery, gym, or housing units, feels supported and inspired from day one
* Success means our People Managers feel coached and confident in handling informal employee relations, guided by the practical how-to resources you create
* You will be a champion of our core values (serve, thrive, believe, inspire), using data from staff surveys and exit interviews to drive real cultural improvement
Key Responsibilites
* Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for 10+ active vacancies, including agency management and social media sourcing
* Design and deliver high-quality inductions that build an immediate sense of belonging across all areas
* Act as the first point of contact for managers, providing informal coaching on attendance, conduct and performance
* Translate technical HR policies into user friendly guides and lead internal engagement initiatives to identify cultural trends
* Act as a power user for our HRIS (Ciphr) and provide technical coaching to the HR administrator to ensure data accuracy
Qualifications & Experience
* CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma (or equivalent professional experience)
* Proven experience in a recruitment-heavy role and a solid understanding of UK Employment Law
* Exceptional verbal and written skills, with the ability to persuade and coach staff at all levels
* A solution-focused, energetic approach with the confidence to constructively challenge barriers to a positive workplace culture
* Knowledge of Safe Recruitment (DBS) within regulated environments like Ofsted or CQC is highly desirable
