We are looking for an R Developer with financial modelling experience to help design, build, deliver, and support models and applications serving the pensions market. You will:
1. Work alongside high-performing, highly skilled, and multi-disciplinary teams, promoting autonomy and engineering excellence using the latest technologies.
2. Drive innovation and increase the maturity of frameworks, integrations, and automations.
3. Collaborate closely with senior developers, architects, and actuarial modellers to deliver sustainable solutions that add value to our business.
4. Engage with meaningful work, solving complex challenges at scale in novel market areas.
5. Be a core member of the product teams that build, test, and scale our applications and services.
6. Work closely with our R User and Model Expert Groups to promote best practices.
7. Support less experienced team members with R development.
About You
To succeed in this role, you are likely familiar with:
1. Modern software development practices from problem and data analysis to solution design and implementation.
2. Non-functional aspects of software delivery such as performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
3. Financial modelling, especially within the pensions domain.
4. Applying coding and technical solutions to complex financial scenarios.
5. End-to-end implementation of R solutions.
You Will Have Experience Of The Following
1. Strong pensions domain knowledge gained in an actuarial context.
2. Proficiency in R programming, ideally including package development.
3. Experience with Tidyverse (dplyr, purrr, tidyr).
4. Familiarity with Git and code management/documentation practices.
5. Experience with continuous integration/delivery practices.
6. Knowledge of R Shiny and R Markdown.
Additional Experience (Optional)
1. Automated build and deployment pipelines.
2. Automated testing frameworks.
3. Accessing external APIs via R (e.g., httr/httr2).
