Senior BI Data Architect (8 Month FTC)
£97,000 (Pro-rated to 8 months - £66,000)
Fully Remote (UK-Based Only)

THE ROLE
As a Senior BI Data Architect, you will lead the evolution of the data platform, working across engineering and BI to deliver a scalable and high-performing architecture.
Specifically, you can expect to be involved in the following:
* Design and implement a governed Databricks Lakehouse, including catalog and data structures.
* Migrate complex legacy SQL into clean, modular, and maintainable pipelines.
* Build scalable transformation frameworks using Spark and Python or SQL-based pipelines.
* Optimise query performance across large datasets, improving efficiency and cost control.
* Define and manage data modelling standards, including dimensional modelling approaches.
* Develop CI and CD pipelines to enable reliable deployment and testing of data products.
* Create and maintain a semantic layer for self-service analytics and reporting.
* Partner with stakeholders across multiple business areas to translate data needs into solutions.
* Deliver insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders, balancing technical and business priorities.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful Senior BI Data Architect will have the following skills and experience:
* Strong commercial experience in data architecture or data engineering within modern cloud environments.
* Deep expertise in Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and SQL Warehousing.
* Advanced SQL skills with a focus on performance tuning and optimization.
* Experience migrating legacy data systems into scalable architectures.
* Proven ability to design and build data pipelines using Spark and Python or SQL.
* Strong understanding of data modelling, including star and snowflake schemas.
* Experience working with BI tools and semantic layers such as Looker or similar platforms.
* Familiarity with version control and CI or CD workflows.
* Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
