Quality Manager Overview:
Own the QMS and move the site from reactive quality to prevention-led control
Lead investigations, corrective action and COPQ reduction across manufacturing processes
Manage and develop the quality team, raising standards and accountability
Drive customer and supplier quality performance, audits and improvement plans
Spend a balanced mix of time on the shop floor and in the office to embed discipline
This Quality Manager role takes ownership of the site quality strategy as the business continues to grow. The Quality Manager will strengthen how procedures are followed, improve problem-solving and corrective action, and build a more proactive quality culture in a heavily audited manufacturing environment. The Quality Manager will lead the existing quality function, with room to grow the team and add further staff beneath them over time. This Quality Manager role is full-time on-site in Blandford, with flexibility on hours and occasional customer/supplier travel.
Day-to-day responsibilities of a Quality Manager
Own and improve the Quality Management System and site quality governance
Lead investigations and corrective actions, focusing on root cause and blame prevention
Drive right-first-time performance and reduce scrap, rework and cost of poor quality
Strengthen in-process controls, documentation discipline and change control
Lead internal audits and support external/customer/supplier audits through to close-out
Act as the main customer quality contact for complaints, escapes and performance reviews
Lead supplier quality activity: approvals, audits, corrective actions and development plans
Support NPI quality planning and ensure quality deliverables land properly into production
Coach and develop the quality team, raising consistency, pace and standards
Spend time on the shop floor to support containment, reinforce standards and improve adherence
Report quality KPIs and trends, using data to prioritise improvement actions
Deputise and support wider operational leadership where quality decisions impact delivery and risk
What they’re looking for - Quality Manager
Proven experience in a manufacturing quality leadership role (Quality Manager, Quality Lead, Senior Quality Engineer leading teams)
Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and a confident approach to audits and QMS ownership
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and how quality is controlled on the shop floor
Track record leading investigations, corrective actions and measurable improvements
Able to bring the best out of people, set expectations and improve accountability
Comfortable being hands-on across shop floor and office, managing priorities in a busy environment
Strong customer and supplier communication, able to hold difficult conversations professionally
Engineering background preferred (time-served/apprentice trained welcomed), qualifications helpful
