Castlefield Recruitment is delighted to be working in retained partnership with Leeds Beckett University (LBU) to identify a high-calibre senior estates professional for their newly created Head of Estates vacancy.

Responsibilities
1. Reporting to the Director of Estates, provide leadership and strategic direction to the Estates team in all aspects of hard facilities management services.
2. Lead the development of operational strategy, integrating services and improving efficiency and effectiveness across all areas of hard FM service delivery.
3. Deliver or oversee projects from inception to completion, including developing delivery strategies, procuring consultant teams and contractors, managing project risks, stakeholder engagement, and ensuring quality within allocated resources.
4. Develop a long-term lifecycle maintenance plan based on asset data, surveys, and maintenance history, adjusting as necessary to align with resources.
5. Manage all aspects of space asset data, including maintaining accurate space information, assessing space use, and collaborating with stakeholders to optimize space utilization.
6. Oversee the development of energy procurement strategies, monitor their success, and make recommendations to balance risk, cost, and energy security.
7. Lead the Sustainability team, overseeing scope 1 and 2 carbon reduction targets and integrating sustainability initiatives across the university.
The Person
1. Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline with a professional qualification such as MRICS or MCIOB.
2. Experience managing hard facilities management services, including maintenance, in a large, complex, multi-site environment, with a focus on culture change and customer service.
3. Experience leading capital projects through all stages at a senior level.
4. Strong knowledge of sustainability practices and their application to large organizations, especially in estates and facilities.
