Midland Pressure Diecasting is a well-established and expanding UK manufacturer specialising in high-pressure aluminium die casting for automotive, utilities, aerospace, medical and general engineering markets. We are experiencing strong year-on-year growth, driven by new customer acquisitions, expanded capabilities, and continued investment in people, tooling, and technology.
To support this growth, and due to retirement of key personnel, we are strengthening our management team and seeking an experienced Quality Manager / Lead Quality Engineer to lead, develop, and continuously improve our quality management systems and culture.
Role Purpose
The successful candidate will take ownership of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure full compliance with:
* IATF 16949
* ISO 9001
* ISO 45001 (Health & Safety)
* ISO 14001 (Environmental)
The key priority for this role will be to lead the business to successful certification to IATF 16949 within the timeframe of 6 - 12 months, and to embed the standard as a foundation of our Quality Management System. You will play a key role in maintaining certification, driving continuous improvement, supporting customer requirements, and embedding best-in-class quality practices across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management Systems
* Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of IATF 16949, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 management systems.
* Maintain the already achieved ISO 9001 Standard.
* Act as site owner for all external audits and certification bodies.
* Plan and conduct internal audits and manage corrective actions.
* Maintain documented procedures, work instructions, and records.
Customer & Supplier Quality
* Act as primary quality interface for customers.
* Manage PPAP, APQP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and SPC activities.
* Lead investigation and resolution of customer complaints using 8D, root cause analysis, and corrective action methodology.
* Develop and monitor supplier quality performance.
Continuous Improvement
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and support functions.
* Implement lean and quality improvement tools (Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma principles).
* Use data and KPIs to monitor performance and identify improvement opportunities.
Operational Support
* Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Toolroom to ensure robust process control.
* Support new product introduction and process validation.
* Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements.
Leadership & Development
* Lead, mentor, and develop the quality team.
* Promote a strong quality and compliance culture throughout the organisation.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Proven experience in a manufacturing quality role (automotive or die casting preferred).
* In-depth, demonstrable knowledge and hands-on experience implementing and maintaining IATF 16949.
* Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 (ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 also preferrable).
* Experience with PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, and Control Plans.
* Health and Safety focused and driven.
* Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
* Confident communicator with customers, auditors, and internal teams.
Desirable:
* Experience within pressure die casting or metal manufacturing.
* Lead Auditor qualification.
* Working knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
* Six Sigma Green Belt (equivalent) or above.
* Experience managing a quality team.
