Interview questions

To be honest, ending an interview by answering that you don’t have any questions will not be seen as a positive attitude to have.

During an interview, seize every opportunity you have to get to know more about the position. It is also an opportunity for you to interact with the employer and get to know more about the company than what was listed in the job offer.

From the employer’s point of view and depending on the questions you will ask, you will show your level of motivation for the position.

You can anticipate the end of the interview by having prepared a few questions to answer to. Here are a few examples that can help you :

Questions about the position

How would you define the level of success for this position?

The employer most certainly has his idea on what he expects from the candidate to succeed for the position. Depending on the answer given by the recruiter, you will understand what the expectations are. You will be able to focus on this definition of success at the beginning. From one company to another, you are probably aware that the vision of success can vary. Be sure that you are on the same page as the CEO.

How does the position contribute to the growth of the company?
The answer to this question will give you an idea of the impact of your position on the growth of the company. By asking this question, you are showing the employer that you have a real interest towards the entire company and not only towards the position offered.

What are the objectives of the company in the months to come?
This question can make you score points: find out the long term objectives of the company and formulate the question as follows: “How can this position help the company reach the objective of …?” As well as showing how well you know the company, you also prove that you are willing to invest yourself.

What will be the main missions that will be affected to the position during the first few months?
This question will give you an idea on how your work will be organized on your work day, what the employer expects from you…etc. If in their answer it seems like they are giving you more or less responsibilities, it can be a sign for you to start looking for a job that suits you best.

Questions about the company

What is the company’s culture?
You probably already have an idea of the company’s culture based on the research you have done prior the interview. The answer can go in line with what you had imagined or not.

Why do employees like working in your company?
Finding out what employees like about working in the company will give you an insight on why you could like working in the company yourself. At the end of the interview, you should be able to get a real feel of what it ids like to work in the company.
